Texas Sheet Cake

Ohhh yeah.  Texas Sheet Cake, baby.  So moist and delcious.  This is a fairly simple cake with simple ingredients and a few odd-ball steps like boiling butter and cocoa together.  Don't be alarmed, it comes together very easily and is a great dessert to bring to a party or feed a crowd because it makes a lot!  This recipe comes from my mother-in-law and it's a winner!  Enjoy!

Creamy Coleslaw

Need a side to go with that yummy grilled chicken?  Once again, before it gets too chilly, I wanted to put up one of my favorite summery bbq side dishes.  Coleslaw.  I've tried many a coleslaw recipe and this one is definitely a winner.  It is full of flavor and really easy to whip up.  You need to let it sit at least an hour, but you could easily make it the morning of or even the night before your dinner.  Enjoy!

Grilled Lemon-Parsley Chicken

This is why I love having this blog.  I was going through pictures of recipes I needed to put up, and I had forgotten about this one!  It was so delicious and if I hadn't snapped this picture I may never have made it again.  What a tragedy.  We made this one night shortly before we moved to Alabama for the summer and with all the changes I had forgotten about it.  The recipe was in an actual cookbook I have that I didn't bring with me, so it wasn't something I could just look up online.  Anyway, in short, I didn't forget about it because it wasn't delicious - because it was.  It was some of the best grilled chicken I've ever eaten.  It's getting pretty chilly here in Pittsburgh, but if it's still warm where you are, or if you're brave enough to man the grill outside, then go ahead and make this one!  It's delicious!

Pumpkin Snickerdoodles and a Baby Shower

I hosted a baby shower last week and it was so much fun!!  My good friend Mary is having her first girl (after 2 boys) in a few weeks and it was fun to put together a party to honor her and her new arrival.  As expected, I went overboard on the food, but it was a blast.

Whole Wheat Waffles

I know, I said I'm back and then it's been forever.  It's been craziness in our house, but I really want to get some more recipes up here!  These are my new favorite breakfast item I've tried in the last several months.  They are 100% whole wheat, but they are surprisingly light and tasty and really easy to whip up in the morning.  We love our standard buttermilk waffles, but I feel a little better about us eating this for breakfast instead.  Of course, we also love our waffles smothered in peanut butter and maple syrup, an old family tradition from my side of the family. :)  Delicious!
